Building on his degree in horticultural science Stephen McNally has spent over 35 years working in various roles in the horticulture and agriculture sectors. He has been a crop management advisor specialising in greenhouse technology, a grower and exporter from his own South Auckland operation, an irrigation system design engineer and a water resources infrastructure consultant across NZ and Australia.

He served 14 years on the Board of Irrigation NZ and was made an Honorary Life Member in 2018 for his services in developing technical standards and industry training.

Stephen lives in Upper Hutt with his wife Margaret and two teenage boys. His personal focus is on supporting the food and fibre sectors to make robust and defendable decisions on natural resources management through effective communication of sound science and engineering knowledge to a diverse audience.
