Irrigation New Zealand

Irrigation fundamentals is a 1-day course targeting new entrants to the industry and frontline staff from businesses and organisations that provide services to irrigators. The course gives attendees a comprehensive overview of irrigation systems and their use of water - from source to paddock alongside the common challenges that irrigators face.

The course can be structured to provide a mixture of practical on-farm work, as well as classroom contact. Attendees will gain an understanding of soil, crop and climate relationships and their implications for irrigation; regulation and sustainability; system types and componentry; basic hydraulics and pumping; designing irrigation systems; troubleshooting and maintenance.
