Irrigation New Zealand

Irrigation in NZ is subject to much regulation, this includes -

  • The take and use of water
  • land use controls or nutrient discharge limits
  • building constraints and
  • health and safety requirements.

Sustainability has become a key consideration for irrigation, particularly given the investment involved and the increased intensity of farming operations.

INZ's Legislation, Regulation and Sustainability resource book provides further information.
