Description

Ivan is the dairy farmer representative on the Hawkes Bay Regional Council TANK (Tutaekuri, Ahuriri, Ngaruroro & Karamu catchments) collaborative stakeholders group, A 30-member community group which has been meeting since October 2012 tasked with making plan change recommendations to council, on the catchments. This includes Napier, Hastings & Havelock North communities & extends west to the Ruahine Ranges. Tank catchment is the second largest in Hawkes Bay.

Ivan'sTANK experience has given him insight, understanding & the chance to network with a diverse range of industry groups within our region, each with their own unique challenges & opportunities

He is Vice Chair of the Ngaruroro Irrigation Society, a group of irrigators based on the Ngaruroro River. Members interests include horticulture, viticulture, olives, cropping, beef, sheep & dairy.

He graduated from the Fonterra Governance Development Programme in 2013. This is a programme set up by Fonterra but run by Massey University School of Business to develop governance & leadership skills in rural New Zealand.

He and his wife own & operate Wairua Farm a dairy/dairy support/beef rearing irrigated farm in the Maraekakaho District west of Hastings, Hawkes Bay.In 2016 Wairua Farm won four awards in the East Coast Balance Farm Environment Awards. Water Force Integrated Management Award, Hill Laboratories Harvest Award, Balance Agri-Nutrients Soil Management Award & the LIC Dairy Farm Award.
