Regional Council Verification Training Day

This one day Regional Council Verification training has been designed for Water Metering Staff and Compliance Staff.

When: 10th of April 2019 8.30-4.30

Where: Distinction Coachman Hotel - Palmerston North

Why:

When the National Metering group met last August it was highlighted that there is a knowledge gap in the water verification space in many Councils. This training day is to give Council staff an opportunity to refresh their knowledge or learn about verification.

The Unit Standard required to be completed by the service industry is a NZQA Level 5 that requires a workplace expert to sign the applicants off. In the past Councils have offered this service to their local industry who don’t have a workplace expert of their own. It would be great if Councils would step into the breach once more as an in kind contribution to the success of the Blue Tick Water Measurement Accreditation.

It is also important for Council staff and compliance staff to understand what is that is being asked of consent holders and the pros and cons of the methodologies, there is some miss understandings out there. It is also important that they can audit the service companies to ensure they are doing the work correctly and not generating false passes or fails. Again, INZ do not have the resources to this and need Councils to be able to spot questionable work.

The morning session will cover theory (a condensed version of the training now being delivered by INZ to the service industry) and the afternoon will be a site visit where the two most common methodologies are undertaken- clamp on ultrasonic vs a flow rig.
