The primary Sector Water Partnership is a grouping of all the major primary sector organisations who are committed to ensuring the sustainable use of freshwater resources in the primary sector. This is a collective action plan that builds on the individual environmental management programmes of the various partners.
A Water Management Strategy framework for Canterbury has now been completed under the leadership of the Mayoral Forum (a grouping of the mayors and chief executives from all of Canterbury's councils). The Mayoral Forum set a clear direction that the future management of Canterbury's water resources was to be developed in partnership with communities.
